Ulmer Family with 4 Sons in WWII
Mr. and Mrs Jabob Ulmer (she was Julia Serr) had four sons on active duty with two more, age 21 and 18 who expected to be called up. This from The Sutton News on Sept. 7, 1944.
I too am an Ulmer. Michael William Ulmer. My father served 24 year and so did I. I was watching antiques road show. They were talking about WWI so i decided to see if I could find information about Ulmers that served. My Grandfather Charles Ulmer was turned down because he was 1st generation German born in the US. However, he spent the war years building muntions factories in NJ and other east coast locations. My family to include wives, cousins, an others have over 100 years of service to our country.
The were all the greatest uncles! Heroes to us as kids! And they did not talk about their service.
