Brown, publisher of the Sutton Register lived on this street as did Nellie Stevens and Alida Curtiss operators of the millinery shop north of the Lyric Theater. Brown often mentioned his neighbors, Gus Bender and the Stevens/Curtiss women. <br /><br />These are the kind of curiosities that drive me to Clay Center periodically to auger in land records - so many curiosities, so little time.
