ReplyDelete"Although commonly referred to as the "Maltby House", this home at 409 S. Maltby Avenue was built by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ebert in about 1914. Three of their four daughters, Anna, Selma and Martha lived in the home throughout their lives - until 1968. Many piano and art students became familiar with with this house and the art of Selma and her students grace the walls of many Sutton homes. The property is part of the claim of J. R. Maltby who named Sutton after the Massachusetts town where he was born. The home was purchased by the Sterling Schelkopf family in 1969 and was modernized. Bev Schelkopf operated the Maltby House Bed and Breakfast in the home for several years beginning in 1992." Doug and Corinne Nuss were the next owner/occupants of the home.
