The second Sutton High School building was built in 1886 after the first building burned.
The school cost $20,000 in 1886 and served for 26 years. It was located at the same site as its successor, where the Nolde Center is now located.
The school district chose to replace this building in 1911 after a study determined repairs would exceed the cost of a new structure. The next school building was the three-story brick building in use from 1912 until 1979.
The Sutton High School Alumni Directory opens with details of about this and the other buildings in use since District #2 was formed in 1872.
