Gold's Close-out Sale in Sutton - 1890
William Gold who went by "Billy" while operating his first store in Sutton held his Close-out sale as advertised here in The Sutton Register on July 4, 1890. Billy Gold ran this Sutton store for several years before moving to Lincoln where he opened a new store on the south side of "O" Street in downtown Lincoln - the largest Nebraska department store outside of Omaha.

Early Days of Clay County from the 1915 Sutton News
The Sutton News published a series of three articles about the early days of Clay County on August 6, 13 and 20 of 1915. The articles concentrated on the period up to the 1860's during the days of the overland trails and the pony express in the southwest corner of Clay County.

Sutton's 65th Anniversary Celebration
Sutton Celebrated its 65th anniversary in 1939. They were marking the founding in 1874 when the formal and official certification as a town occurred.
