Tom Osborne - Speaker at 1995 Athletic Banquet
Nebraska head football coach Tom Osborne was the speaker at the 1995 Athletic Banquet in Sutton. This was on May 9th, just a few months after his #1 Huskers beat #3 Miami in the Orange Bowl to capture his first National Championship.
Spring 1920 County Teachers Exam Schedule
This schedule for county teacher exams appeared in the Sutton Register on May 27, 1920. The battery of tests covered two days and a variety of subjects. It appears there were three skill levels to the exam for certification or some other formal designation - First Grade, Second Grade, and Life.

FOX HOLLOW Golf Course Opened May 28, 1995
Sutton's Fox Hollow Golf Course held its Opening Day on May 28, 1995. The club held an auction to determine the first 36 golfers to take the course.

S1C Donald Averill lost 25 Oct 1944 in the sinking of the USS Gambier Bay Aircraft Carrier
This story appeared in The Harvard Courier 75 years ago describing to the Averill family that the navy had no hope of locating their son missing in the sinking of the aircraft carrier the USS Gambier Bay.

C. Moore painted this lithograph titled “Freedom’s Cost” commissioned by the
USS Gambier Bay Association. Nineteen-year-old Seaman 1st Class
Donald Averill of Harvard was among the 138 men lost when the aircraft carrier
was sunk by Japanese gunfire on the morning of October 25, 1944. Donald Averill
was a graduate of the Harvard High School Class of 1943.

Sutton Locker Plant Torn Down 1995

European War was Nearly Over on May 3, 1945
