Albert Lewis Sold His Jewelry Store in 1947 after 52 Years in Business

Mr. Albertis H. (Albert) Lewis was the "dean" of Sutton businessmen when he sold the jewelry store in 1947.

This article appeared in The Clay County News on February 6, 1947.

The Sutton Museum displays the grandfather's clock that sat in the window of the Lewis Jewelry store. Legend has it that railroad men would walk down to the jewelry store to set their watches by the clock in the window during stops for fuel and water. We proudly perpetuate that legend at the museum.
