The Order of DeMolay was named after Jacques de Molay, the 23rd and last grand master of the Knights Templar who was burned at the stake in 1314 as part of Pope Clement V's clampdown on the Knights Templar. Clement confiscated the assets of the Templars and turned them over to the Knights Hospitaller.
